2018 Registration Fee

Everyone pays a registration fee including teacher-observers, students, and participants in teacher training courses.

$30 per family March 1st- April 1st (early registration)
$60 per family April 2nd – May 15th (standard registration)
$100  per family May 16th – June 1st (late registration)

Please note that registration after June 1st is conditional upon availability in desired courses.

Payment in full is due at time of registration

Scholarship winners will be sent a refund when the scholarship funds are available.

Teacher Observers

We welcome and encourage teachers to observe our classes. Please note that teacher-training classes are not available for observation. The prices below do not include the required registration fee.

Full-time access for teacher-observer $75*

1-day access for teacher-observer $0

*This fee and the registration fee may be waived for teachers with 5+ students at JSSI.


On-campus housing is available in Emerson Hall. A linen packet of sheets, pillow, and towels is included. There is no air conditioning in the dorm rooms so you may want to bring/purchase a fan. Each person staying on campus MUST purchase a full meal plan. No one under age 18 may stay on campus without an adult. The regular stay for students at institute is Monday to Friday (4 nights, checking out Friday).  Additional nights may be reserved for Saturday, Aug 4th; Sunday, Aug 5th, and Friday, Aug 10th.

Teachers doing a teacher workshop may wish to add a Sunday night stay. Teacher workshops begin Sunday morning at 10 am and classroom hours finish on Thursday at 5 pm, although you may need to stay through Friday noon to complete your required observations.

The institute does not arrange roommates. Please only register for double or triple occupancy if you already have roommates in mind. If you register for single occupancy and later find a roommate, we can refund the difference as long as you let us know by July 1st.

Single Occupancy  – regular stay: $280. Extra night: $65/night.

Double Occupancy – regular stay: $240/person. Extra night: $55/night/per person.

Triple Occupancy (limited availability) – regular stay: $180/person. Extra night: $40/night/person.

Cancellations and refunds

$100 of your payment is non-refundable. No refunds will be issued after June 1.
