Video Auditions
(due May 31, 2026)
To participate in our Honors Recitals or our Young Artists Program, students audition by video.
• Play one memorized, polished piece.
• Piano accompaniment is required unless the piece does not have accompaniment.
• Wear something that makes you feel both comfortable and confident. Please wear shoes.
• If possible, stand in front of a non-distracting background.
• Upload the video to YouTube or Vimeo and make sure visibility settings are either Public or Unlisted.
• The same video can be used to audition for both Honors Recital and Young Artists program, but if you wish, you may submit two separate videos.
The piece you audition with for Honors Recital is the piece you will perform at Honors Recital, if selected.
For your Honors Recital audition, choose a memorized and polished piece that is 6 minutes in length or under.
Your video will be evaluated by a panel of musicians, individually and anonymously.
Final selection depends upon each piece’s fit on a balanced and interesting program within the schedule.
For the reasons listed above, it is possible to play beautifully and not be selected for the Honors Recital.
When you register, you will indicate on the Video Auditions form whether you will be submitting a video link.
You can submit the video link via the form during registration or you can submit it later by emailing japanseattle01@gmail.com
If you have questions about video recording submissions, please email japanseattle01@gmail.com
before the deadline (May 31st).
